TELUS Red Packet Design
Year: 2022, Year of the Tiger
Concept: “Have fun in year of the tiger”
The key concept of the design revolves around showcasing the softer and playful side of a tiger, reminding people of its gentle nature. This softer tone is achieved by incorporating peonies, which hold symbolic meaning of "wealth" in Chinese culture and are commonly associated with Lunar New Year celebrations. The desire is to include Lunar New Year greetings that convey wishes of happiness and abundance in wealth for the year of 2022.
Chinese copy on the back flap:
花開“虎”貴
Direct back translate is "Flowers in full bloom signifies wealth." It means flourishing flowers bring prosperity and bright future.
Word play: In Chinese, tiger sounds close to the word - wealth. Hence, we use “tiger” to replace “wealth”. Plus, Year of the tiger in China also represents wealth, power and fortune.
